As a newborn photographer, I realize the importance of capturing every. single. detail.  Aside from images of babies in the cute props and poses, the wraps, headbands, bonnets, and hats that you will find in my STUDIO, I also get up close and “personal” with your sweet bundle.  I capture the sweet little pouty lips, the perfect untouched fingernails, the gorgeous lashes, that amazing head of hair–I capture all of it. For YOU.  Why? Because once reality sets in that you have a newborn and you are actually surviving, the first couple weeks go so fast and all of a sudden you will look back and think “holy MOLY! A month FLEW by!” And in that month, your sweetness will have already changed.

My promise to you as your newborn photographer is that I will capture those tiny details for you, so you can look back and see how little your little one was.  So you can go back to that feeling of “how in the world did we make this?!” Every last detail I will catch in beautifully unique images that you will hold onto forever.

New Baby Photography

Welcome to the World, Baby Owen!

“I spent many sleepless nights during my pregnancy asking for referrals and searching on Facebook for a newborn photographer.  I fell in love with Katie’s photographs and was so excited when I was able to lock her in for my newborn session.  Once Owen arrived, I scheduled my session within the first week.  She was fabulous with my son, her studio is so nice, very clean and she did not disappoint. She supplied all the props, had sound machines to calm my baby, and he was like putty in her hands. I couldn’t be happier with our photographs and can’t wait to schedule a family session later this year. FEELS.  I love my job; I love capturing these tiny babies.  I love the challenge of newborns, capturing the tiny details and the big moments. He was so sweet during his entire session.  I think he whimpered maybe once near the end.  Mom and dad were perfect and trusting and sat back watching the magic of the session. Mom told me she wanted earth tones, neutrals, and possibly some blues and grays.  I told her she came to the right spot!  The studio is completely stocked with all things neutral, classic, and earth tones galore. Mom had a blast browsing the different props and layers that are all over the studio.  To say this was a perfect fit on all levels is an accurate assumption.  Can’t wait to see this little guy grow in his milestones!

Gorgeous Maternity Photos

This sweet mommy found me on Instagram and I’m so glad she did! It’s crazy to me how social media has become this huge networking platform.  SO different than how things were when I was younger!  Anyways, mom reached out wanting to book a maternity and newborn session.  She only had a few weeks left of her pregnancy and was a teensy bit nervous I wouldn’t have any openings, but luckily I moved some things around and was able to capture some amazing images of this sweet family of soon-to-be-FIVE.

When I say this family nailed it for getting ready for their session, I mean it.  They hit it out of the park. Mom has a very similar style to mine.  I love the creams, neutrals, the classic pieces.  This whole family was gorgeously dressed ready to be captured.

At the session, mom and I were talking and she revealed she was having a baby boy! EEK! That means she would have two girls and a boy, just like me. Plus her younger two would be very close in age, just like my three littles.  Needless to say, we had a lot to talk about. I love how soon to be big sister was so tender in kissing mommy’s belly here, don’t you?

Once we got our yummy golden light, mom changed into her fabulous deep blue maternity gown (both gowns were from https://www.sewtrendyaccessories.com/ and were to die for!).  This was the perfect outfit to showcase the sweet baby boy growing in her belly. And just look at the amazing lighting!

Welcome to the World, Baby Kennedy!

Y’all. I can’t EVEN with this session.  I just CAN’T. Obsessed with this sweet gallery is an understatement. Gahhh! Can’t wait for you to see! This mommy found me on Google and reached out waaaaay back in November.  Since we had just moved to the Charlotte, NC area in October (from WI), I was all too excited to meet this sweet couple and plan their sessions.  Mom hired me for their pregnancy announcement photos and then also opted for the Premium Package for the newborn session.  And I’m OH SO HAPPY THEY DID!

Just look at how BEAUTIFUL this little babe is! She was so peaceful during her session.  We barely had to break for feeding or changing.  She was just so CHILL and wonderful.  Of course I like to think I had something to do with it (but I definitely can’t take all the credit of her peaceful demeanor).  When parents book KatieRie Photography for newborn shoots, I advise that they send me a text or email right when baby is born (from the hospital!) so we can set the date for the session ASAP.  I love getting newborns into the studio within the first ten days of life.  This is when they are super sleepy and I can transition them form pose to pose with ease.  Of COURSE if someone has an older newborn, I can still work my baby-whispering magic too. Once parents reach out after baby is born I send my Studio Guide for parents to prepare for their session. Just look at the works of art that will decorate this family’s home!

Welcome to the World, Baby Leo!

This sweet little nugget came to the studio with her doting parents. I am a volunteer photographer at Elevation Church (Gaston campus–WOOT!), where mommy and daddy work.  It was just a perfect opportunity to be able to capture this sweet family (who also has midwestern roots–like me!).  And just look at the amazing newborn photos we were able to photograph!

We chose a simple and clean palette for Baby Leo’s session, making the focus clearly on her and her beauty. The studio is well equipped with layers, headbands, outfits, wraps, props and backdrops–so all you need to do is just show up for your session!   I also remind parents to contact me as soon as baby is born—like directly from the hospital–so we can schedule the date of your session and we can get your little nugget in the studio in a timely manner (the first ten days of life are ideal, but I have had success with a little older newborns as well).  Once parents contact me, I send out the Studio Guide for parents to follow.  I always say it’s a guideline and the babies will always call the shots, but to follow it as best as they can so I can do my job. That way, I can capture all the cuteness in all these sweet little poses! This mommy and daddy followed those guides to a ‘T’!  And even made sure to contact me right away when Baby Leo was born.

Sometimes parents know exactly what they want or they have a Pinterest page with the poses they have their heart set on.  I always say it’s good to have an idea, but since baby calls the shots throughout the session, it’s best to keep an open mind.  I promise we will get gorgeous images of your precious one.  My style is timeless and classic. This mommy and daddy sat back and let me take the reigns, which I’m all too happy to do so!

Welcome, Baby Lillian!

This sweet baby girl came to the studio with her very own VIP cheering section.  Girl number three for this family and everyone was so, very excited to welcome this bundle of sweetness into the family.  And she ROCKED her session as well! Just look at the cuteness captured in the studio:

When mom contacted me during her pregnancy, she knew she wanted to include the entire family during the newborn shoot.  I steered her in the direction of the Deluxe Session, which is the most popular package and also includes photos with parents and siblings.  Mom also chose to add on a maternity session which I ADORE because it gives me an opportunity to work with the entire family before the newborn session.  PLUS you get even more artwork to add to your walls.  This little one wanted me to capture her belly too–isn’t she adorbs?!

The family portion of the shoot is done right away so siblings can relax after their portion.  Some parents drive separately so they can take brothers of sisters to the park or to get ice cream since sessions can last up to three hours.  This gives them a chance to get spoiled and have some one-on-one time with a parent while the focus in the studio can be on the new baby during the photo shoot. If driving separately is not an option, I have a whole room full of toys for them to play and stay entertained.
